"Out of all the priorities, Independence of Kosova is our main objective for 2007"

Prishtinë, 20 August 2007 - Increase in the cost of living and the upcoming elections were the topics that were mentioned in Prime Minister Agim Çeku's weekly radio address. A working group that includes representatives from the office of the Prime Ministry, Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Economy and Trade has been set-up to review, analyze and recommend measures to keep the cost of living down for citizens of Kosova.

"The government is following closely the increases in the prices of food items since due to the level of poverty in Kosova, this is felt more than in the other areas of Europe" Çeku added.

As far as the elections are concerned, PM Çeku stated that there are multiple factors that require us to hold elections. According to him, it is Kosova's duty as a democratic society to hold elections at the scheduled intervals.

"Citizens of Kosova deserve to elect the individuals that they want to be represented by" he continued.

"Personally, I have made it clear that I will not run in the elections that will take place before the decision on the final status of Kosova. What I am saying is that we as a government need to be united and direct all of our energy towards realization of the Independence of Kosova" he continued.

He concluded his address by stating that he believes that the population of Kosova will continue to show the political maturity it has shown in every election.

"Through the vote, citizens will disapprove or approve what has been done in Kosova by this government in the last few years" he concluded.
