Mitrovice, 6 November 2007 - The Draft constitution for Kosovo has passed the harmonization stage during a three day conference held in Mitrovica. This constitution defines Kosovo a Parliamentary Republic, with some added executive responsibilities for the Presidency.
Hajredin Kuçi, Head of the Constitution Commission, says that the constitution can almost be considered as final, and according to him only some issues are left to be defined like the re-regulation of the constitution in languages and judicial adequate terms. “Kosovo is defined that it will be an independent sovereign state. It will be a parliamentary republic with some added power in the executive field and also for the President of Kosovo” Kuçi said. This draft requires the final approval of Kosovo’s parliament to become effective. |
