Madrid, 28 February 2006 - Spanish police yesterday arrested Veselin Vukovic, accused of murdering former human rights official for Yugoslavia Enver Hadri on February 25, 1990, in Brussels, at Barajas airport in Madrid. Hadri had been carrying documents implicating former Yugoslav dictator Slobodan Milosevic in violating human rights in late 80's and during 90's, and so Vukovic's arrest should lead to more evidence against Milosevic.

Hadri was murdered in the driver's seat of his car by three individuals, (Vukotic, Darko Asanin and another) in broad daylight at a traffic light in Belgium. In addition, there are two international warrants out for Vukovic on charges of murders committed at Yugoslav discotheques.  Vukotic, who lived in hidinig in different places since the 90's, is the only survivor from the group of professional killers that Milosevic allegedly financed and used to kill his opposers in Serbia and abroad. The others have been killed by Serbian Ministry of Interior to prevent the exposure of any links between Milosevic and this group.

The Spanish police determined that Vukovic's common-law wife was living in a posh section of Barcelona along with their two daughters, and traced him from there.

He was arrested when he arrived in Barajas on a flight from Paris, where he had been visiting along with his family. When arrested, he was carrying false Croatian identification in the name of Ludwig Bulic.

The other known member of this team was Darko Asanin, a known druglord in the Balkans, who was first arrested under Interpol warrant in Greece (but released by Greek authorities) in October of 1995 after Milosevic intervened personally. He was later killed in 1998 in the high profile neighborhood of Belgrade, near Milosevic's residence.
