Another key figure, the head of Kosovo Parliament, Nexhat Daci has been sacked from his post today and replaced by the vice president of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Mr. Kolë Berisha.

Prishtinë, Kosovë, March 1, 2006 - Kosovo's Prime Minister Bajram Kosumi handed in his resignation today. In a special meeting, the Alliance for the Future of Kosova accepted the resignation from Mr. Kosumi and accepted the candidacy of Lieutenant General Agim Çeku, the head of the Kosovo Protection Corps.

There are reports that two other members of the Alliance for the Future of Kosova holding ministerial posts, Ethem Çeku and Bujar Dugolli submitted their resignations as well, however, this information has not been confirmed yet.

Kosumi stepped down due to threats that the governing coalition would lose its slim majority in the province's Parliament if he stayed on his post.

Another key figure, the head of Kosovo Parliament, Nexhat Daci has been sacked from his post today and replaced by the vice president of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Mr. Kolë Berisha.

Kosovo's recently elected president, Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu said that he would gather the members of the governing coalition as soon as possible to fill the gap created by these changes.

Analysts concluded that the changes in the political scene of Kosovo are most likely a result of political clashes within the Democratic League of Kosovo after the death of Kosovo's former president, Ibrahim Rugova.
