PODGORICA, March 1, 2005 - Montenegro -- Montenegro's main political parties agreed on Tuesday (28 February) to schedule the referendum on independence on 21 May, one week later than the date suggested by the EU. The major ruling Democratic Party of Socialists and all four opposition parties have accepted the EU's proposed rules for the plebiscite. Parliament was expected to formally accept the EU proposal and set the date for the referendum on Wednesday.
