Prishtinë, 12 october 2006 - UNMIK administration has assessed that it is early to discuss the realization of investments in Serb regions in Kosovo, for which the Serbian Government set aside 32.6 million euros through the National Investment Plan (NIP).

UNMIK doesn’t have enough details on what the Head of the Economic Team for Kosovo Nenad Popovic requests, and it still doesn’t have an answer to that question, said the spokesperson of UNMIK’s IV Pillar Mechthild Henneke.

“Popovic will meet with UNMIK officials. We will see what the Serbian Government Economic Team specifically wants and we will discuss the possibilities of implementation. For the time being, we cannot say what they want and where they plan to invest the money. We can say that this Serbian Government investment will be treated like all other international donations and that it will have to pass the envisaged procedure for which UNMIK and the local authorities in Kosovo are responsible,” said Henneke.
