Prishtinë, 25 October 2006 - Kosovo Daily "Express" reports that Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica has expressed his belief that Russia and China will block any attempt to grant independence to Kosovo. In an interview for Vecernje Novosti, the Serbian Prime Minister said the Russian President Vladimir Putin and other officials would insist in finding a solution of compromise that would respect international law. “Russia’s position is enough, and China is not far away,” Kostunica was quoted as saying.
The paper also quotes the Albanian President Alfred Moisiu, who said that veto emerged as a result of political bargaining and that Russia would not use it in the case of Kosovo. “I don’t think that Russia will use the right of veto and I say this based on a meeting I had with Russia’s former ambassador to the UN,” Moisiu said in an interview for Radio Free Europe. |
