February 6, 2007 - As an EU and NATO member, Bulgaria will put all effort to aid international attempts for the establishment of stability in the Balkan region, a Council of Ministers press release said.

The press release presented the view of the Cabinet on plans for Kosovo's status.

Bulgaria believes that consistent effort should be made to find the proper solution to the Kosovo question. The question is of key importance to the stability and peace of the region, the statement said.

Any solution should answer a number of questions. Among these are regional borders, European integration, long-term viability and control. Kosovo's status should not lead to instability in Southeastern Europe, said the statement.

All suggestions which can lead to lack of stability among which the idea of ethnically clean Kosovo, of separation and of the incorporation of Kosovo in another country, are unacceptable.

EU and NATO should continue their involvement in the process to guarantee the deepening of democratic processes in Kosovo, the statement said. During talks and shortly after KFOR should remain responsible for supervising the process, the Council of Ministers said.
